I’m sick of hearing about Rob Ford.
I realize that’s an unpopular position – he’s basically the Lindsay Lohan of Canada, and people love them some celebrity gossip. I also realize that I’m a member of the media and I should be relishing this opportunity for an easy story idea, or to continue to pit Hamilton against Toronto in the battle of superiority.

Celebrities drive trends not only in fashion, but in beauty and hairstyles. The pixie cut, seen recently on Jennifer Lawrence and Pamela Anderson, has been a favourite of celebrities since Mia Farrow and Audrey Hepburn sported the stylish ‘do. If a trend transcends decades, it usually means that it’s timeless, and a favourite among many. However, it’s not a favourite of Roger Sterling Jr., who recently wrote an editorial on Total Frat Move about why women shouldn’t get short haircuts.

The annual Hamilton – Niagara’s Top Employers survey has recognized Mohawk College as one of the top ten employers in the region.
Now entering its eighth year, the title recognizes regional employers in Ontario that offer exceptional places to work. The competition is evaluated based on a list of eight criteria which focuses on aspects like the physical workplace, employee communications, financial & family benefits and vacation & time off.

Electronic entrepreneurs gathered at McMaster University’s pub TwelvEighty for DemoCamp 14 on Monday night. The event allows local experts to present their newest apps. Many students were on hand to check out the new offerings.
DemoCamp organizer Kevin Browne says it gives app creators a chance to get feedback on their products. It also gives them a chance to talk to other app creators as well, “It’s basically just a big communal learning environment for the tech sector.”

Even before World AIDS Day on December first, Mohawk College took an early lead with a documentary and a speaker forum. The event, organized by Social Inc. and the Hamilton AIDS Network, brought together students and teachers at the McIntyre Performing Arts Centre to educate students and eliminate the stigma of HIV.
